Sgt Anthony URGENT ACTION NEEDED + Winter Meeting 12/01
Helicopters, Turnpike & Winter Meeting <!–
Good evening,
A few quick items before the end of the day!
Firstly, we will be having an in person Association meeting on Dec 1st at Box cafe on Palisade Ave at 7pm. We’re finalizing the agenda and invites, but hope to have representatives from the city to talk about the recent zoning and property tax changes, and other important issues.
We are also expecting to have a return to the Annual Holiday Lunch in December for Members of the Association (see below), date and location TBD.
More details on both of these will be going out soon, but there are a couple of urgent items below that need immediate attention.
thank you
URGENT ACTION NEEDED
DEADLINE TONIGHT
Liberty State Park NEEDS YOUR URGENT PUBLIC COMMENT SUBMISSION by Midnight on Monday, Nov. 21st TO OPPOSE National Park Service’s devastating constant Loud Noise Barrage plan to relocate TOURIST HELICOPTERS’ FLIGHT PATH DIRECTLY OVER LSP. We have a right to enjoy our urban park public resource in a multitude of free ways.
Please submit a short strong opposition Public Comment on the NPS online form at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/commentForm.cfm?documentID=124250 or from QR code below.
Just 1 sentence will be important, to oppose the National Park Service draft plan for tourist helicopters to fly over and immediately next to LSP as it will severely harm people’s quality of life use of our urban oasis.
URGENT ACTION NEEDED
TOMORROW
Last week EmpowerNJ discovered that the projected cost of the Turnpike expansion has ballooned to $10.7 billion, not the already exorbitant $4.7B NJTA said it would cost. Given the Turnpike Extension is only 8 miles long, this comes to a cost of an incredible $1.3 billion per mile for expanding an already existing roadway and causing even more traffic in Jersey City.
The existing bridge and extension can be made safe and structurally sound for less than one twentieth of its replacement cost and expanding the Turnpike spur will do more harm than good by increasing traffic congestion, greenhouse gases and pollution; disproportionately harming our most vulnerable communities; and draining money away from needed and much more efficient mass transportation projects.
TOMORROW, TUESDAY NOVEMBER 22ND, 9:00 AM CALL INTO THE NJ TURNPIKE AUTHORITY BOARD MEETING TO DEMAND A HALT TO THE TURNPIKE EXPANSION PROJECT: 800-346-7359, ENTRY CODE 487219.
Note: Board meeting will likely begin with around 30 minutes of executive session before entering public comment.
We must make our voices heard tomorrow. Tell Governor Murphy and the Turnpike Authority that they must immediately halt this project.
