We are sad to report that one of our association's founding members and our former President, Barbara (nee Burns) Petrick, passed away on Sunday, August 13th.

Jersey City native, historian, teacher, author, activist, wife and mother Barbara died at home following a long illness.

As well as the many admirable achievements, she was instrumental in helping to found the Sgt. Anthony Park Neighborhood Association, and the overhauling and beatification of the Park’s decaying concrete landscape and she will be missed.

In honor of Barbara, we hope to continue to use her example and strive to make the Neighborhood and Park better places that people can live and play.




A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at St. Joseph's Church, 511 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, at 10:30 a.m. Donations can be made to the New Jersey Room of the Jersey City Free Public Library. Arrangements by: McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
