The Sgt Anthony Park Neighborhood is the cornerstone of the Heights, and offering views of NYC skyline, it marks of start of the protected Palisade cliffside. It is proudly nested in the heart of Jersey City, surrounded by Riverview, Pershing Field and Hoboken to the north, and Downtown and Journal Square to the south.
Originally farmhouses, the neighborhood became a 1-2 family residential neighborhood towards the end of the 19th Century. Today, many of the original houses still exist, and apart from the Christ Hospital properties, it remains largely a 1-2 family residential neighborhood.
Named after Sgt Anthony, a WWII pilot who played in the lot across the street (now Sgt Anthony Park), the Neighborhood Association was started by Barbara Petrick in the 1980’s.
